Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 - Friday, December 27, 2019

Depart home city. Rio is waiting for you!

Day 2- Saturday, December 28, 2019 - Arrival in Rio!

Congrats! You’ve made it to Rio and you are just three days away from checking off your bucket list travel adventure – NYE in Rio de Janeiro! Let’s hope you slept on the plane because this is going to be a long night. The night starts with dinner at a rooftop restaurant with amazing views overlooking Rio de Janeiro–unlimited Caipirinhas included. Next up, a samba school experience at one of Rio de Janeiro most loved samba schools (hint: it’s not actually a school). And if that’s not enough, there is always Rio’s famed Baile Charme. This is a welcome to Rio that you won’t forget.

Day 3 - Sunday, December 29, 2019 - Beach fun in Rio de Janeiro!

Wake up!!!!!!! Wake up!!!! You are in Rio de Janeiro! Eat a breakfast filled with fresh fruit to prepare for an epic day in Rio de Janeiro. On Sundays Cariocas (the name of people who live in Rio de Janeiro) head to the beach for sun and fun. There’s a beach right in front of your hotel that you will certainly enjoy during the week. But since Sundays are special, we’re taking you to one of the most gorgeous beaches in Rio de Janeiro just an hour away. And if you’re up for it, we’ll challenge you to hike up a mountain and take Rio’s most instagrammed photo. On your way back to Rio, you’ll see hundreds of Umbanda and Candomblé worshippers gathering on the beach to pay homage to Yemanjá.

Day 4 - Monday December 30, 2019 Christ, Carnival Experience, and Pedra do Sal Quilombo!

Monday starts off with a quick and early stop at the monument that defines Rio—Christ (say your prayers, take your photo and we’re out of there). Then we head to the city where thousands of workers prepare floats for Carnival—City of Samba—located in the historic center of Rio. Samba schools are the epitome of black culture in Rio de Janeiro and on this stop, we’ll learn their history and all the work that goes into preparing the Samba School Carnival parade. For lunch, we’re dining at Rio de Janeiro’s newest black-owned restaurant. Its chef trained at Paris’ Eiffel Tower restaurant. After you’ve filled your tummy with good food and drowned a caipirinha or two, we’re off to our Afro-Rio tour. The night ends with the famous Pedra do Sal samba party. Pedra do Sal, an urban quilombo, hosts one of the largest roda de sambas, a music format in which musicians play samba music around a table.

Day 5 - Tuesday, December 31, 2019 - New Year's EVE!

It’s New Year’s Eve!!!! Take the day to relax on the beach (but don’t get too much sun) and take a stroll down Copacabana beach. At night we will dress in white and go to a warmup party on the beach (tables and snacks included). Once the clock hits midnight, we’ll watch a 15-minute fireworks show and give flower offerings to Yemanjá, and jump seven waves for good luck. But the night isn’t over. A R&B party will take over Leme beach until 5am in the morning.

Day 6 - Wednesday, January 1, 2020 - Boat Ride and BBQ

GET UP!! Sleep the morning away as you recover from the previous night’s (and morning’s) activities. This is your free day and the only activity you’re on the hook for is a boat ride and BBQ around the oceans of Rio de Janeiro.

Day 7 - Thursday, January 2, 2020

Last day in Rio de Janeiro! Don’t miss your flight.
